A Caddo District Court judge on Monday, July 25, 2016, determined a Shreveport man was guilty of a 2009 slaying in southwest Shreveport.

District Judge Roy Brun found Timothy C. Thomas, 38, guilty of the Sept. 14, 2009 second-degree murder of 33-year-old Shannon Golston, who was shot several times while sitting outside the Southern Village Apartments on West 70th Street.

Thomas was convicted shortly after 5 p.m., several hours after Thomas waived a jury trial as juror selection was about to commence.

During the proceedings, the Shreveport Police Crime Scene Unit, DA Investigator Rod Demery and North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory representative Carla White matched a firearm recovered from Champion Lake more than two years after the slaying to shell casings and bullets recovered at the crime scene.

Thomas will be sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole or reduction of sentence at a separate court hearing Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Caddo Assistant District Attorney Ross Owen prosecuted the case, while David McClatchey was Thomas’s defense attorney.
