It took a Caddo Parish jury only two hours to find a Shreveport man guilty Thursday, November 17, 2016, of drug and fraud charges after a four-day trial.

Jeremy Decardo Lewis, 29, had been charged with monetary instrument abuse by possession of counterfeit U.S. currency and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, a Schedule One synthetic cannabis derivative. The jury returned guilty verdicts on charges of attempted monetary instrument abuse and guilty of attempted possession with intent to distribute schedule i controlled dangerous substances.

On the attempted monetary instrument abuse charge Lewis faces up to five years at hard labor and a fine of up to $500,000. For attempted possession with intent to distribute he faces up to 15 years at hard labor and a fine of up to $25,000. He faces enhanced multiple-offender sentencing due to a 2005 conviction for armed robbery.

Lewis will return to court later this month to be sentenced.
