A local woman accused of first-degree negligent injuring and DWI with child endangerment in connection with a June 26, 2016 accident that seriously injured two minor children, pleaded guilty as charged in Caddo District Court Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Lindsey Leigh Logan, 31, of Bossier City, admitted in court she drove while impaired on prescription medication and caused her 2004 Toyota Highlander to leave Old Mooringsport Road and strike a tree. The children in her vehicle were not restrained at the time of the accident. Her younger child, five months old, was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield. The infant suffered minor injuries but the older child, aged 7, was seriously injured.

On the DWI/child-endangerment charge, she was sentenced by Caddo District Judge Brady O’Callaghan to six months in Caddo Correctional Center with a $300 fine, plus court costs. With regard to the pleading for first-degree negligent injuring she was sentenced by Judge O’Callaghan to five years hard labor in state custody, with all but the first 30 months suspended, with five years of active, supervised probation.

The probation has special conditions. These include parenting classes, a $200 fine, enrollment and completion of a court-approved substance-abuse program that includes residence at the Oxford House, participation in random drug screenings and evaluations, and no driving subsequent to two years of probation without violations or failed drug screenings.

Judge O’Callaghan said the court would consider early termination of probation upon successful completion of a period of probation.

Logan was credited for time served while awaiting trial. Her probation and parole time are to run concurrently.

Logan was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mekisha Smith Creal. She was defended by Kyle Robinson.
