A Shreveport man was convicted this week on drug charges in Caddo District Court.
Courtney Mondercus Caldwell, 26, was found guilty on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, of possession with intent to distribute the Schedule I controlled dangerous substance marijuana and of attempted possession of the Schedule IV drug Clonazepam.
He originally was arrested on Dec. 13, 2016, by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office following the execution of a search warrant.
The case was before Caddo District Judge Erin Waddell Garrett. The seven-woman five-man jury found Caldwell guilty of the charges by a 10-2 count.
Caldwell faces up to 30 years in prison at hard labor for the Schedule I violation and up to 2-1/2 years on the Schedule IV violation. Sentencing is scheduled for June 23, 2017.
The prosecutor was Caddo Parish Assistant District Attorney Kodie K. Smith. Caldwell was represented by the Caddo Parish Public Defender’s Office.
