A Shreveport man faces a mandatory life sentence after his conviction in Caddo District Court Wednesday, May 2, 2018, on a charge of first-degree rape.

Lonnie Tramaine Carroll, 34, was convicted by the five-man, seven-woman jury in District Judge John D. Mosely’s courtroom in under 10 minutes.

Carroll was charged with the February 25, 2017 attack on a 23-year-old woman, whose ordeal was described by a nurse who testified as some of the worst she had ever seen in her extensive career.

The victim was attacked orally, anally, vaginally and then orally raped again at knife-point. The woman was finally able to escape through a window, flee the location and call the police. Carroll then was arrested and confessed fully to the rape.

Carroll will appear in court again May 8, 2018. When sentenced, he faces the mandatory life sentence. His prior convictions include simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling in 2001 and three armed robbery convictions in 2003.

Prosecutors were assistant district attorneys Ron Christopher Stamps and Sam Crichton. Carroll was defended by Michelle Andrepont and Michael Davis.
