A Shreveport woman who pleaded guilty late last year to manslaughter in the death of her toddler son was sentenced Monday, January 7, 2019, to 25 years in prison at hard labor.

Brandy Lynn Shackelford, 34, indicted August 18, 2016, for manslaughter in connection with the May 27, 2016 death of her 2-year-old son, Richard Malott III, was sentenced by Caddo District Judge Brady O’Callaghan. She had pleaded guilty to manslaughter Tuesday, November 13, 2018, before him.

Assistant District Attorney William Edwards prosecuted for the state. Shackelford was represented by Mary Harried.
