A Shreveport teen who admitted to involvement in the November 3, 2018, slaying of pizza delivery driver Lester McGee, was sentenced to juvenile life Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

Anthony Mandigo, 14, had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit armed robbery February 13, 2019 for his involvement of the killing of Lester McGee who was delivering pizzas for Domino’s. Caddo Parish Juvenile Court Judge Paul Young sentenced Mandigo to be incarcerated through age 21, the maximum sentence allowed by law.  The sentence is to run concurrent with an earlier sentence to age 21,  also given by Judge Young, in the case of the November 9, 2018 armed robbery of the Raceway gas station on North Market Street.

“The mother of Mr. McGee, Cheryl Harris, spoke to the Court about the devastating impact this loss has had on her and Mr. McGee’s children,” said Assistant District Attorney Audie Jones. “There was not a dry eye in the courtroom except for Anthony Mandigo and Anthony’s mother.  Neither one said that they were sorry for what happened to Mr. McGee.”

Under current Louisiana Law, Mandigo is eligible for parole after serving nine months, because he was only 13 years of age at the time of the crimes.

Several other teens face legal action or have pleaded to involvement and have been sentenced,

Jae’lon Ware, 16, was transferred from juvenile court to adult court by Caddo Parish District Attorney James E. Stewart Sr. Ware then was indicted for second-degree murder with regard to Lester McGee by the Caddo Parish Grand Jury. Ware’s preliminary examination before Caddo Parish District Judge John D. Mosely Jr. is set for February 26, 2019.

Demaria Jefferson, 18, also was indicted by the Caddo Parish Grand Jury in the McGee murder. His preliminary examination before Judge Mosely also is set for February 26, 2019.

Lathaniel Pearson, 16, who with Mandigo pleaded guilty to the November 9, 2018, Raceway armed robbery, also received the maximum sentence of juvenile life (to age 21) by Judge Young.
