A man accused of the burglary of a building owned by noted Shreveport guitarist James Burton was found guilty of a lesser included charge Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in Caddo District Court.

Ronnie Lamar Burks, 41, of Shreveport, had been charged with the January 28, 2019, simple burglary of the storage building owned by the James Burton Foundation in the 700 block of Austen Place, just west of downtown Shreveport, near the Municipal Auditorium. Burks was caught in the act by the manager of the Foundation.

The five-woman, one-man jury found Burks guilty of attempted simple burglary. Burks will return to appear before District Judge John D. Mosely Jr. November 12, 2019, for sentencing.

Burks was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Alexandra Porubsky and Senae Hall. He was defended by Felicia Hamilton and Michelle AndrePont.
