A Shreveport man accused of breaking into a home in early 2023 and assaulting an occupant pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court last week to home invasion.
Latrell Ben Taylor, 33, pleaded guilty before District Judge Michael Pitman just before his trial was to have begun February 7, 2024. Judge Pitman sentenced Taylor to serve eight years in prison at hard labor.
Taylor was accused of entering a residence in the 4000 block of Forest Oak Drive on January 13, 2023 and striking an occupant in the face. After Taylor was detained for questioning by police, he was identified by the victim. Taylor fled but was arrested after a brief chase.
Assistant District Attorney Hilary Hileman prosecuted the case, docket No. 394075. Taylor was defended by Michael Enright.
