One of two area men accused of robbing and killing one man and wounding another pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

Dontreal Damon Quayce York, 19, of Haughton pleaded guilty to manslaughter and armed robbery before Caddo District Judge Don Hathaway, Jr. Tuesday morning during jury selection.

On January 19, 2021, York and a co-conspirator attempted to negotiate the purchase of firearms before going to a home in the 3000 block of Lindholm Street, where they were to purchase the guns. When York was unable to make a favorable legal deal, he robbed the men, then opened fire, killing one and seriously wounding the other. York and the co-conspirator were identified by the surviving victim.

York was charged with second degree murder, and armed robbery but pleaded to manslaughter and armed robbery after the victims and their families agreed to the manslaughter plea.

When York appears before Judge Hathaway on April 20, 2024, he faces up to 40 years for manslaughter and up to 99 years for armed robbery without the benefit of parole, probation or suspended sentence.

His coconspirator is scheduled for trial in April.
